It all started on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico where I first found these sea changed gems. Striving to make jewelry that is in keeping with the organic qualities of sea glass, I make the ear-wires, links, chains & many of the clasps with my hands with wire & simple hand tools. The techniques I use date to ancient times & were developped by nomadic people along the silk route. Working this way I am able to take my time and enjoy the creation of every piece.
What Is Sea Glass Or Beach Glass?
It is our broken glass that was lost at sea and is then returned to us as frosted gem like treasures. Poetically referred to as "Mermaids Tears" it washes up on beaches all over the world & is also known as beach glass. In writing you will sometimes see seaglass, or beachglass. Personally, I like the oneness of "seaglass" after all those years in the sea it has become something beyond man made glass.
