Welcome! My name is Lisl and I have been making sea glass jewelry for twenty five years. This journey began in Rincon, Puerto Rico when I went on what was meant to be a two week trip to Puerto Rico to visit family. Upon finding sea glass and seashells on the islands beaches I fell under the tropical ether and forgot about my return ticket back to the states. Rincon became my home for the next fifteen years. When I first started making sea glass jewelry I sold jewelry by way of the coconut telegraph, from a table on the beach and in galleries in the Caribbean. We have had a website for only a few years now. Although we are a latecomer to the web Out Of The Blue Seaglass Jewelry is the oldest full time, large scale sea glass jewelry business in the world. My husband and I now live stateside in Sarasota County, Florida which is on the gulf coast and on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. All of our sea glass jewelry is made with genuine sea glass that was worn smooth naturally in the sea. I find that sea glass evokes primeval memory. It looks to have emerged from an ancient place yet is relatively modern. It looks to be natural yet was created by mankind. I often find myself wondering what kind of jewelry ancient people that lived by the sea would have made with sea glass. With this inquiry in mind I endeavor to make sea glass jewelry that has a rustic elegance and an ancient yet timeless beauty. I make every ear wire, bracelet, necklace and pendant by hand with sterling silver wire. I make jewelry from scratch. Using age-old jewelry techniques and simple hand tools I shape and form precious metal wire into elegant ear wires, chains and bales. Inspired by the ancients I strive to make jewelry that not only has the potential to become an heirloom but looks to have emerged from antiquity. What Is Sea Glass Or Beach Glass?

Sea glass or beach glass is our lost broken glass that has found its way to the sea where it is transformed into frosted gem like treasures by the natural tumbling action of the tides. Only glass that has been worn smooth by the sea or a lake can be called sea glass or beach glass. Sea glass or beach glass can refer to glass that has emerged from the sea whereas beach glass refers to glass that has emerged from a body of fresh water - and yes there is even such a thing as river glass!

Sea glass is often poetically referred to as "Mermaids Tears" and washes up on beaches all over the world. In writing you will sometimes see seaglass, or beachglass. I love the oneness of "seaglass" after all those years in the ocean it has become something beyond man made glass. It is as if the glass has blended with the sea and the two are now inseparable. The way you can hold a seashell up to your ear and hear the ocean I find that you can feel the power of the sea when you hold a piece of sea glass in your hand.
