A beautiful assortment of 116 pieces of rare lavender sea glass. Most of this sea glass is jewelry/collector quality with only a very few being craft quality. This lovely assortment features three special sea glass collectibles. One piece looks to have come from a handle from a glass lid and the other two come from jar or bottle bottoms. One of the jar/bottle bottoms has the number 2 embossed on it. Lavender sea glass is very special because it comes from glass that was once clear and colorless! In the 1860s American pressed glass makers started using manganese in the production of clear colorless glass. When exposed to sunlight glass made with manganese purples over the years. If displayed in a sunny spot this sea glass will intensify in color in the coming years. Sizes range from tiny to large. We found this sea glass on the beaches of Rincon, Puerto Rico.
