Nirvanic Turquoise blue sea glass from the Caribbean and antique glass beads from Venice, Italy and vintage glass beads from the Czech Republic suspend from hand-formed ear wires. Turquoise blue sea glass such as this is very special and ultra rare! We found these magical sea glass treasures while wandering the beaches of Rincon, Puerto Rico and they were worn smooth only by warm tropical Caribbean surf. This sea glass more than likely comes from Victorian era casa criollos that had small colorful window panes that filtered and cooled the intense Caribbean sunlight. The smaller beads are light turquoise blue. They were made in the Czech Republic for the African trade and date to the 1980s. The larger beads have a magical and enchanting beauty. They are turquoise blue with red lined yellow stars on a dark blue background. They were made in Venice, Italy in the early 1900s for the African trade. For thousands of years beads and natural found objects such as seashells have been used for currency all over the world. Although these beads are fairly young as trade beads go they show signs of wear, just like our modern day currency, from years of being handled. Just like our paper money and coins there is no telling how many hands they have passed through. Old trade beads are highly collectible just like sea glass! I acquire my old trade beads from some of the worlds leading bead researchers. I made these earrings with sterling silver wire and formed and forged the ear wires by hand. Handmade ear wires give sea glass earrings a high end artisan look and feel. The sea glass is 5/8" L. The turquoise star beads are 1/4" W x 3/8" L and the small light turquoise beads are 4mm. The earrings are 1&5/8" L from the bottom of the ear wires. Authentic sea glass.
