A fun pair of earrings with a cheerful and playful soul! Honey amber sea glass from the Caribbean and old Venetian green, white and red striped glass chevron beads bring each other to life as they suspend from beautifully hand-formed ear wires. We found the sea glass on the beaches of Rincon, Puerto Rico and it was worn smooth only by Caribbean surf. The chevron beads were made in Venice in the early 1900s for the African trade. For thousands of years beads and natural found objects such as seashells have been used for currency. Although these beads are fairly young as trade beads go they show signs of wear, just like our modern day currency, from years of being handled. Just like our paper money and coins there is no telling how many hands they have passed through. Old trade beads are highly collectible just like sea glass! I acquire my old trade beads from some of the worlds leading bead researchers. I made these earrings with Argentium silver which is purer than traditional sterling silver. It is brighter and whiter than platinum, white gold and sterling silver and it is hypoallergenic. These earrings hang from my handmade ear wires which give sea glass earrings a high end artisan look and feel. The sea glass is approximately 3/4" L. The African trade beads are approximately 5mm. The earrings are approximately 1&1/2" L from the bottom of the ear wires. All Argentium silver. Authentic sea glass.
