The Enchanting Caribbean Sea
Inspired by the Caribbean Sea I hand pieced an assortment of aquamarine glass beads, spiraling elements, flowing elements and round soldered links together. I made this necklace with thick gauge Argentium silver wire which I curved, spiraled and forged by hand. I love working with Argentium silver because it is higher in quality, purer, brighter and whiter than traditional sterling silver. I oxidized the silver to create a darkened patina which gives it a soulful and mysterious beauty and then brushed the silver to give it a satin finish. The beads are an assortment of dreamy aquamarines and turquoise blues. They are from Ghana and are made with recycled glass. They are made with glass bottles and other discarded glass items that are worked into a powder which is then placed into molds. The beads are fired in a kiln which is made out of termite mound clay that is fueled with crushed palm kernels. This necklace is 28" L and is claspless so it just slips on over your head. The beads are 10mm-15mm. I did all of the silver work in this necklace by hand and it is very, very strong. This necklace is heirloom quality and with proper care will last for generations.
One of a kind. You will receive the necklace pictured here.
