Beautifully hand-formed and forged sterling silver spirals sway beneath coiled sterling silver wire and rare antique glass beads. Spirals are all around us and can be seen in flowers, seashells, weather patterns and throughout the cosmos. These blissful forms have been used across cultures and continents in artwork to celebrate the eternal. The beads were made in Venice, Italy in the early 1900s for trade in Africa. For thousands of years beads and natural found objects such as seashells have been used for currency all over the world. Although these beads are fairly young as trade beads go they show signs of wear, just like our modern day currency, from years of being handled. Just like our paper money and coins there is no telling how many hands they have passed through. Old trade beads are highly collectible. I acquire my old trade beads from some of the worlds leading bead researchers. I made these earrings by hand with sterling silver wire using ancient wire jewelry techniques and simple hand tools. I oxidized the silver to create a dark patina which gives these earrings a beautiful ancient mystery. The spiral charms are just over 1/2" L. The beads are 7mm. The earrings are 1&3/8" L from the bottom of the ear wires.
One of a kind. You will receive the earrings pictured here.
