Sea glass has an ancient beauty and I love to make jewelry that looks like it emerged from an ancient and peaceful paradise. This necklace is the ultimate in sea goddess adornment. I made it with copper wire that I shaped, spiraled, forged and soldered by hand. I oxidized the copper to darken it then burnished it to give it a candlelight beauty. The beads are modern day recycled glass beads from Ghana. We found the cobalt blue sea glass on the beaches of Rincon, Puerto Rico and it was worn smooth only by the warm tropical surf of the Caribbean. Blue and orange are complimentary colors which means that they sit across from one another on the color wheel. The cobalt blue sea glass intensifies in the company of the diffused orange of the copper wire. I finished this necklace with a beautifully handmade chain and clasp that have a lovely tactile quality. This necklace is 22" L. It is heirloom quality and with proper care will last for generations. The last picture shows the necklace next to a quarter to give you a size reference. Copper has a warm beauty and is also very inexpensive. A beautifully handmade piece of jewelry for a beautifully affordable price.
