Fun and free spirited earrings for any soulful beachcomber! Ancient fossilized shark's teeth dance beneath antique glass beads. We found the shark's teeth on Manasota Beach on the gulf coast of Florida and they are millions of years old. The small dark blue glass beads are 3mm and were made in the Czech Republic in the mid 1900s. The larger beads are 5mm and are blue with green stripes. They were made in Venice, Italy in the early 1900s for trade in Africa. For thousands of years beads and natural found objects such as seashells have been used for currency all over the world. Although these beads are fairly young as trade beads go they show signs of wear, just like our modern day currency, from years of being handled. Just like our paper money and coins there is no telling how many hands they have passed through. Old trade beads are highly collectible. I acquire my old trade beads from some of the worlds leading bead researchers. I made these earrings with sterling silver wire and formed and forged the ear wires by hand. The shark's teeth are just under 1/2" L. The small dark blue beads are 3mm and the blue beads with green stripes are 5mm L. The earrings are 1&1/4" L from the bottom of the ear wires.
One of a kind. You will receive the earrings pictured here.
