England I

Sea Glass From England - Part I
Our English sea glass comes from North East England. We collected much of our English sea glass ourselves while exploring miles of England's North East coastline. We also work closely with local collectors who send us sea glass from the region as well.
My husband and I spent the month of March 2011 collecting sea glass in the UK. Collecting sea glass in the UK is a bit of a challenge. The beaches we explored were mostly shingle beaches which means that they have large areas of pebble spread. Even the most colorful sea glass can be hard to see amongst the countless sea pebbles.
In the muted cloud covered sunlight and sea fog I found myself looking for something with a subtle glow. Sea glass has a frosty transparency and holds light whereas most of the pebbles are opaque. I began to see this as an adventure in collecting light.
My husband, Ronnie, usually either finds the first piece of sea glass, the most, the rarest or all of the above. I often plead with him to walk in another direction so I can have a chance to find some treasures! In the picture below ( A rare sunny day ) you can see him off in the distance.
