Who Says You Can't Find Sea Glass In Florida?
March 30, 2011
Florida's beaches are renowned for their beauty and aquamarine waters. Many of our beaches are a beachcombers paradise and one can wander endlessly collecting seashells, ancient fossilized sharks teeth ( and other fossils as well ) and sea beans. Once in a long while the beachcomber will be rewarded with a piece of sea glass!
The sea glass in the picture below is representative of what we usually find here and are humble remnants of modern day beer, soda and liquor bottles.
Once in a very long time the sea will toss a rare color our way:) Below is a beautiful luscious piece of lime green sea glass that we found on a gulf coast beach on New Years Day!
We were really amazed by a rare and unusual recent find in Sarasota! I often refer to this treasure as "Esmerelda" or "Sea Dragon Kryptonite." This amazing piece of sea glass comes from a depression era hobnail perfume bottle stopper.
