About The Sea Glass
This sea glass was found on a beach in England near the site of a Victorian era glass factory that once stood on a cliff overlooking the North Sea. Workers in this factory would combine scraps of molten glass together at the end of the work day to make items for their own use, then whatever scraps of glass were left over after that were discarded into the North Sea.
Spirals
The spiral is an ancient design and has been used by various cultures to symbolize the eternal. Spirals appear in nature in seashells, the oceans tides, winds, plants and galaxies. This form is ageless.
Polaris Bale
The bale was handmade here in our studio with thick gauge sterling silver wire and allows for the color striations of the sea glass to be viewed from all angles. This pendant features a spiral detail on each side and either side can be worn on the front. The design was inspired by the Phoenicians who were amongst the first to make glass and are believed to have been the first to use the North Star, Polaris, for navigation at sea.
