About The Sea Glass
We collected the cobalt blue sea glass in these earrings from the beaches of Puerto Rico. These treasures were worn smooth by warm tropical seas. Cobalt blue is usually classified as a rare sea glass color by collectors. When I first started collecting sea glass in Puerto Rico cobalt blue was a locally common sea glass color and has become less common on the island. Cobalt blue sea glass may date back as far as the late 1800's. Possible sources of Puerto Rican cobalt blue sea glass are various medicine and poison bottles along with Phillips Milk Of Magnesia bottles and Vicks and Noxzema jars. Other sources may include Victorian era window panes and some old glass odds & ends such as swizel sticks and eye baths.
