About The Sea Glass
We collected the cornflower or saphire blue sea glass in these earrings from the beaches of Puerto Rico. These treasures were worn smooth by some of the Caribbeans most powerful surf. Cornflower blue is usually classified by collectors as being an even more rare color than cobalt. While collecting sea glass in Puerto Rico over a fifteen year period I found more cornflower blue than cobalt blue sea glass which is very unusual in most sea glass spots. Cornflower blue glass is a lighter version of cobalt blue. Possible sources of Puerto Rican cornflower blue sea glass are Phillips Milk Of Magnesia and Noxzema which were briefly bottled in cornflower blue glass. Other sources may include depression glass.
